Brass Castle Tap Takeover
A huge thank you to Ben & Marko (2/3 chimps) from Brass Castle & to everyone that came down on Friday 10th June for the Tap Takeover, meet the brewer, the Euro’s opening party and for an all round awesome Friday night filled with antics and great beer
When Brass Castle began their life in a garage on ‘Brass Castle Hill’ in Pocklington circa 2011, the brewery produced four casks at a time. Within two months they had won Champion Beer at the York CAMRA Beer Festival. Within six months, brewing moved to Lord Halifax’s historic Garrowby Estate brewhouse and now, two years later, Brass Castle is now based in Malton town centre.
What a night, we launched BC kegs including the mighty Oatmeal Pale which was a big hitter on the evening, Bad Kitty which is a crowd favourite porter – fulsome and dark with a hint of vanilla & tops out at 5.5% – 10p of every pint sold is donated to the Farplace Animal Rescue charity.
The main attraction was the launch of the brand new American-style Barley wine – Three Chimps. Honourably we’re only the second bar to actually stock it, but keep your eyes peeled as we are certain that it’ll be making its way around the country soon enough. If you’re unfamiliar with what Barley Wine is (if you didn’t manage to catch the Meet the Brewer session then you probably want to know about it, eh?) it’s a style of strong ale, and often compared to wine due to the ABV (in this case Three Chimps is 10.5%) and potency of the drink, but it is in fact, a beer as it’s made from grain rather than fruit.
Congrats to all who won a bunch of beers / merch on the raffle!
