Leeds Beer Week 2019 @ North Bar
We love Leeds, and we love beer, so when Leeds Beer Week came back around, we knew we had to go all out with our events!
We kicked off LBW ’19 with a Verdant tap takeover – which has now become part of a tradition at North Bar for Leeds Beer Week. Taking place during our first weekend post-refurb, the Verdant tap takeover was a great way to launch the new look North Bar. We had a great line up from the fabulous Falmouth brewery, including People, Money, Space, Time and Dappled. Our customers were so excited for the line-up that the majority of kegs were kicked on the first night.
In addition to celebrating LBW and our refurb, the event was a great way to introduce our new permanent line of Verdant Lightbulb.
After the success of the ‘Bottle Opening Night’ of 2018 we introduced our 2019 version, ‘By The Glass’ event. On the night we had the dream team of Mel and Lowri heading up service and a great line up of sharing bottles from our cellar to be opened. With a selection ranging from Saisons, Gueuzes and some banging Stouts there was plenty to choose from. Our personal highlight was when we opened bottles of Stone Brewing, Struise and Goose Island – tasty!
On the 28th August we hosted a three-way pairing with To Øl, Compass Box and Little Bao Boy. To celebrate our new Dim Sum menu and our new partnership with Little Bao Boy we collaborated with three of our favourites to bring you a tasting menu of deliciousness. Since the launch of Boilermakers from Compass Box earlier in the year, we have hosted Whiskey Wednesday, pairing these golden whiskeys with our North Brewing Co beers and it seemed a shame not to include this in the Leeds Beer Week events. We also had an exhibition of To Øl’s designer, Kasper Ledet, on display.
When then launched the Fierce by Nature collabs, alongside a small tap takeover of some of Fierce Brewing Co favourites! Their mixed fermentation programme has seen them collab with Yeastie Boys and Siren for their first two, and we hear that there will be more to come in the future!
Their main man Alan came on down to North Bar to talk all things Fierce with our customers and answered all questions about the Aberdeen brewery. When things got too beery for our customers, we knocked up some cocktails featuring their Fierce Gin range! Amazing stuff!
We rounded up Leeds Beer Week with a showcase of Partizan’s 100/200/300/400/500 Gyle! Our staff are big fans of Partizan and we’ve been sat on the early gyles for quite some time, waiting for the right moment to bring them back into the light – and this was that time!
Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Leeds Beer Week with us – keep your eyes peeled for what we’ll have on next year! Gonna take something special to out do what we did this year…
